Mujer is made from Vijariego Negro in the Valle de la Orotava. It opened with a strong animal character: leather, barnyard, and earthy notes that initially covered most of the fruit.
Air helped, although not immediately. As the wine opened, the fruit became clearer and the acidity brought more tension and freshness than the first impression suggested.
It was noticeably better on the second day. The animal notes were still present, but more integrated, allowing the fruit and mineral character to come through. Not an easy or particularly clean bottle, but one that became much more interesting with time.
