This is a blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Gewürztraminer from Alsace. The separate barrels were brought together in May 2024, after more than four years of ageing without topping up. The oxidative character is therefore central to the wine.
The nose suggested sweetness, with bruised apple, dried nuts, and honey. The palate went in the opposite direction: completely dry, fresh, and intensely saline.
That contrast was the most interesting part of the bottle. It was complex and balanced, but not particularly easy to drink. A wine that made us slow down and return to the glass rather than simply finish it.
